Local employee group teams up on behalf of St. Joseph's

Smiles spread across the faces of employee representatives at ConAgra Foods Lamb Weston/RDO Frozen once they heard several interesting facts.

Their fundraising efforts on behalf of St. Joseph's Area Health Services Foundation and building campaign earned double the rewards. Team efforts from 440 employees over the past year and a half exceeded their initial projected fundraising goal. And finally, their donation was likely to be the one that tipped the scales in regard to meeting maximum dollars as provided through a Kresge Foundation matching grant.

Ben Koppelman, St. Joseph's President/CEO, informed the six shift representatives of the news when they presented their check during a recent presentation. His words of gratitude for their generous efforts resonated among shift representatives of day, swing and night employees.

What that means for St. Joseph's is that continuing renovation projects will get more mileage as the foundation works to reach its ultimate fundraising goal.

"It is remarkable that you were able to keep the momentum going and invest the time, effort and energy it takes to think of new activities, to involve everyone plus collaborate with co-workers from all three shifts to stay focused on the goal of raising funds for us," said Judith Miller, St. Joseph's Communication/Development Manager. "To keep all of this going during such a depressed economic environment is truly outstanding."

Initiative, positive attitudes and a willingness to go the extra mile on behalf of St. Joseph's kept the ConAgra Foods Lamb Weston/RDO Frozen employees busy with bake sales, potlucks, raffles, and cookbook creation and sales.

The message sent by the employee teamwork was clear.

"They all believe in quality care close to home," says Julie Larson, Human Resources Manager, on their behalf.

Together the three shifts of employees raised a total of $3,625. With the matching grant, $7,250 will go toward St. Joseph's building and renovation projects still in progress.

In the past three years, Lamb Weston/RDO Frozen has contributed $50,000 to St. Joseph's Area Health Services Foundation and building campaign.
