Pain Management

Are you in pain?

All patients have the right to have their pain managed. Treating pain is an important part of care and recovery. Don't be concerned about "bothering" people with complaints about pain. Good pain control can help you be more comfortable, get back to your normal routine, and promote healing.

Medications can help minimize pain. Often pain medicine is used along with other treatments like hot or cold packs or relaxation techniques. Because one size does not fit all, it is important for you and your healthcare team to work together to customize your treatment plan.

Our goal will be to minimize side effects and maximize comfort. Please ask your doctor or nurse if you have questions about your pain management plan.

St. Joseph's uses a number scale from 0-10 to help you rate your pain. Assigning a number to your pain will help your health care team know how severe your pain is.
